Who we are
Think/Make/Grow is a joint venture between Dr Andy Jenkins from the University of Salford and Luke Robertson from UpPlant.
Andy designed and built a large-scale multi-storey aquaponic urban farm within an underused warehouse as part of his PhD research whilst at Queen’s University Belfast. He then went on to co-create zero-carbon neighbourhoods with stakeholders across cities in Europe, before exploring the integration of vertical farms within buildings and cities at TU Delft in The Netherlands.
Andy is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Salford, where he leads the Green, Grow, & Thrive catalyst, which explores urban agriculture, green infrastructure, and green social prescribing, with links to the circular economy, in the built environment.
Luke has over 15 years commercial experience designing and delivering a wide range of architectural and food production systems, including self initiated projects involving commercial aquaponics and modular mushroom production, as well as arts and culture commissions.
Luke is the founder of UpPlant, a green infrastructure company that works at the intersection of art, community, food production, and living green structures.
